The National Health Department has embarked on a massive initiative to tackle HIV and AIDS within the most vulnerable communities.
On 4 July 2012, Health Minister, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi launched the first ever farming sector HIV Counseling and Testing (HCT) campaign at Rashoop Skietbaan in Brits, North West.
The aim of the campaign is for farm workers to know their HIV status and to create an environment in which farm workers can look after their health. To achieve this the department will provide HCT services in public and private facilities, homes, workplaces and public spaces.
The campaign will ensure access to treatment, care, and support for those living with HIV and AIDS.
